Hi, let us introduce ourselves.
Our names are Paul & Sandy and we are truly passionate about helping families, schools and other establishments experience the joy and discovery that owning hens and other poultry can bring.
(It really is like having your own slice of the country life.)
Being a teacher in secondary education for over 25 years has given me the foresight to combine the joy of raising hens with an educational aspect which we think you will love.
We are located within the beautiful County of Devon on the Bere Peninsular. The banks of the River Tamar and Tavy flank this haven of tranquility where we have set up our small rural idyl.
Our Hens and breeding birds live in some of the Country’s most picturesque farming landscape with Dartmoor behind us and the sea stretching out in front of us.
Supplying rare breed & hybrid poultry, waterfowl & Hatching eggs to families, schools, care homes, camping/glamping sites and anyone with an interest in keeping hens, waterfowl and poultry in general.
We offer a 'Raise Your Own Chicks' incubation hire package and also a 'Try Before You Buy' Hen and Coop hire so that you can have a trial run to see if raising Hens is for you.

Keeping Hens can be an absolute joy. They are full of character and will soon become part of your family. It can also be a great way to help live a sustainable life and goes some way to help with the cost of living crisis.
However, as a reputable breeder and hen specialist, we want to help you understand the commitment that you are making and that hens have needs that need to be met throughout their lives.
It's important for us to know that you are aware of what you will need in order to care for your new family members throughout their lives and you can be encouraged that we are just a phone call away to assist you on your journey.
Because of the nature of our business, for certain breeds, if we don't have availability, we operate a simple, relaxed and effective waiting list to fulfil your orders as soon as our lovely ladies are able to deliver.

HEN COOPS FOR SALE
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The problem we come across time and time again for people getting started in keeping hens, is that they don't invest in a decent coop from the outset. A good coop needs to be built of sturdy materials, be easy to clean and handle being moved around frequently.
Inevitably, we are driven to look for a bargain online and when we see a price thats too good to be true, it usually is.
Don't worry, we know exactly how this feels as we've been there ourselves. The pictures seem to look great and the description will make you feel that this is perfect for you... but then it turns up and that solid wood frame you were looking forward to, ends up being a soft wood that will usually last a year at best and leaves your new family members more prone to attack from predators.
To make things better for you, we’ve teamed up with a trusted local craftsman who makes bespoke coops that are completely hand made, sturdy, practical and beautiful! These coops will last you for many years and keep your pets safe.
AVIAN FLU INFO:
A covered run over your coop will allow you to still enjoy your lovely hens during the national lock down, please speak to Paul about specifics or go to Gov.uk for more details. No birds should be free ranging during this time.

INCUBATION HIRE
Raise Your Own Chicks
A perfect one off experience in the family home, classroom, carehome or campsite environment. We provide you with all you will need to successfully raise and interact with your own chicks. It’s a fantastic opportunity to explain the wonders of life, discover the exciting journey a young animal goes on and the challenges faced by these endearing creatures.
Our fully resourced and supported packages can underpin aspects of the curriculum to include literacy, numarecy, sciences and social development. It is also great fun watching these small bundles of energy hatch and develop in front of your very eyes.
Each experience includes the following:
- Brinsea automatic 7 egg incubator.

HATCHING EGGS
CHOOSE WHICH BREED YOU WOULD LIKE TO RAISE
We have a range of stunning chicken family groups that enjoy the quiet Devon countryside and idyllic coastal environment of The Bere Peninsular.
This relaxed and unique location helps them produce some of the finest hatching eggs in the UK. We deliberately keep their numbers low as we genuinely believe we are replicating a semi wild lifestyle that keeps our breeding groups stimulated and healthy.
All our eggs are tested for fertility at the start of the season but please be aware there are a great many variables that can affect the fertility of each egg. We strive to reduce and eliminate many of them but some issues are outside our control.
It’s hatching egg season and we want to make the experience a happy one. If you have a broody hen and want eggs tomorrow then we won’t be for you at this very busy time.
We post eggs each Tuesday morning from our small village mobile post office.
Although we are a first come first served service, due to high demand, mixed egg selections will get a quicker response.
I will always get back to you to confirm your order as soon as is possible after a day or two on the farm.
We can post first class* which is the industry standard or special delivery** if you wish to avoid the tumbler machines.
